Golden Telemedia launches first Cyprus / Greek voice portal. Golden Telemedia is the only company in Cyprus - and amongst the few companies in Europe – which is in the position to implement speech recognition enabled applications in the different environments. In 2002 the company launched to the public the SPEECH DIRECT, the first Cyprus/Greek language Voice Portal service – and one of the few that have already deployed in Europe.
By simply dialing into the portal using a premium rate number – a local or toll-free number could also be used – and using a standard phone or mobile phone, callers can access internet information by voice. Once connected to the service, callers are provided with interactive voice response style voice menus and asked to select the service they want by speaking their voice. The voice portal’s speech technology understands these spoken commands, accesses the service required and then provides an immediate answer in Greek/Cypriot. |
