By simply dialing into the portal, using the premium rate number, and using a standard phone or cell phone, callers can access the portal information by voice. Once connected to the service, callers are provided with the menu and asked to select the service they want by saying their choice. The voice portal’s speech technology understands these spoken commands, accesses the service required and then provides an immediate answer in the Cypriot language.

The system uses an open-grammar technology, i.e. the user/caller can place his/her selection by using/speaking natural dialog, such as “I would like to listen to the overnight pharmacies in Nicosia”, instead of saying “pharmacies” and wait to be asked from the system the city of his/her preference.
